The School District’s ‘Small Schools Transition Project’

• Twelve new small schools were assigned to one of four transition managers in winter 2005 and contracts were renewed last fall.

• Princeton Review was paid a total of $1.5 million to work with Lamberton, Parkway West, Sayre, and Vaux.

• Kaplan was paid $1.1 million to work with Carroll, Lankenau, and Randolph.

• ResulTech was paid $1.1 million to work with Communications Technology, Parkway Center City, and Philadelphia High School for Business and Technology.

• SchoolWorks was paid $750,000 to work with Motivation and Robeson.

• The contracts were terminated last May due to budget pressures and managerial failure to meet performance standards at many schools (community engagement, partnerships, professional development, caring climate, suspensions/expulsions, college visits).
