Sudents Rahkeisha Bingham, Rudy Fields, and Kameelah Alexander (l. to r.) joined 200 YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School students, staff, and community members in cleaning seven abandoned lots of South Mole Street near Ellsworth St. on April 21 in celebration of National Youth Service Day. YouthBuild is stabilizing vacant lots on this block where it is in the last stage of rehabilitating four houses for low-income families. YouthBuild offers a 10-month diploma program for out-of-school-youth, blending academics with community service experience and on-the-job training in construction, technology or nursing.
