The Notebook

Notebook surveys in, and prizes awarded

Prize winner Sherita Cooper

Thanks to hundreds of Public School Notebook readers, who responded this winter to the 2006-07 Notebook readership survey.

Congratulations to the winners in the prize drawing for survey participants. Sherita Cooper of Logan won the grand prize – a $500 gift certificate to IKEA. Katrina Toliaferro of North Philadelphia and Kim Carmichael of Oak Lane won gift certificates to Warmdaddy's.

Survey answers from readers provide a clearer picture of the audience the Notebook is reaching and what readers are interested in learning about. Responses came in from across the city and region – from readers connected with over 150 different Philadelphia public schools.

While more in-depth analysis of the results is planned, some findings are already clear. The survey indicates that a majority of the Notebook's readers work for the School District as teachers, administrators, or school staff members. A sizeable minority, about one-third of responding readers, say that they are parents of one or more Philadelphia public school students.

While the Notebook's circulation of 52,000 gets out through over 600 school and community sites across the city, most readers said they pick it up at a public school.

Thanks to IKEA, the other prize donors, and all the participants. Please continue to read and participate.
