FAQ for playing the Notebook's videos
How do I play the videos?
Most users can play the videos simply by clicking on the video link. This will 'stream' the video on the media player on your computer.
The videos will not play; what do I do?
You will need a version of Microsoft Windows Media Player for whichever operating system you are using. This software is free. Find your operating system in the sidebar to the right on this page to download the Media Player that is right for you.
I've downloaded the Media Player, and the videos still will not play!
There are a number of issues with some browsers:
Firefox/Mozilla: You'll need to download a patch to be able to properly stream the videos. This patch is available in the links on the sidebar to the right.
Netscape: There is no available patch for Windows Media Player for Netscape users. However if you download the RealPlayer patch from their website (link at right), you may be able to stream the videos. If you cannot, you will instead have to save the video to your computer. You will need to download the Windows Media Player that is right for your operating system (see the links on the right), then right click on the video you want to view and Save Target As. This will download the video to your desktop and you will be able to play it from there, in Media Player.
AOL Users: If you are using AOL's proprietary browser, the best solution is to open Internet Explorer and navigate to our videos from that browser to view them. You could also download the videos to your computer by right clicking on the link you want and selecting Save Target As.
Pocket PC Users:you should be able to download a video to your pda and play it after it is stored in memory.
I still am not able to play the videos!
If there is something that is still not covered in our FAQ, please let us know. Please include (1) what type of Operating System you use, (2) type of browser, (3) type of internet connection and (4) try to describe what problem you had when you played the video.
