Simon Gratz High School

Members of the Simon Gratz High School community prepare to cut the ribbon on the school’s newly opened Student Success Center, a concept advanced by the Philadelphia Student Union to provide additional supports to students with issues both inside and outside of school. Ten District high schools have – or by year’s end will have – Success Centers. The others are Overbrook, Kensington, West Philadelphia, University City, Bartram, Frankford, Franklin, Penn, and Edison. Pictured here are (left to right) Gratz student government President Johnny Patterson, Principal Delores Williams, student government sponsor Gary Dempsey, and others.
